The Burrow

Monologue play based on The Burrow by Franz Kafka (1931)
Scenography and Costume Design

The story follows a character who seeks complete security in its underground home but is constantly filled with anxiety and fear of an invisible enemy. Our interpretation of the play’s concept is circling inside yourself.

The scenography features a cardboard installation that fills the entire space, placing both performer and audience inside the burrow. Play-Doh figures and masks represent the character’s imagination and inner fantasies—of both “friends” and “enemies.” Large windows and a door to the outside are key elements, allowing both connection to and disconnection from the external world.

The costume design uses bright colours that resist natural camouflage. It reflects the character’s strange, silly, yet charming nature.
